Project Dimitar Voev is a tribute band with a unique twist. It originated as an idea during a conversation between Neli Nedeva-Voeva and Ivashkin to restore some of Dimitar Voev’s unfinished tracks, which were lying in the author’s old folders. The following friends took part in the recordings for this album: Ivashkin, Albena Angelova, Iva Nachkova, Antonina Yordanova – Toni, Neli Nedeva-Voeva, AA. The recordings were made at Ivashkin’s studio in Radomir between 2009 and 2013. The arrangements for tracks 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 are by Ivashkin, but are based on (and deliberately made very similar to) the original arrangements by Dimitar Voev and his bands Nova Generatsiya and Vhod B. In the cover of ‘Patriotic’, with their parents’ consent, the children from the Ballerina children’s choir also take part. The arrangements for tracks 3 and 6 are entirely Ivashkin’s own interpretation and are completely new pieces (track 6 is based on a 10-second demo recording provided by Neli). The arrangement of track 13 is based on the version by Alina Tringova and Vladi Badi and has been enriched according to the current vision... Track 3 is a piece entirely set to music by Neli Nedeva-Voeva. My New Car and September are entirely new tracks by Ivashkin with lyrics by Voev, originally written for his band Mephisto. The production was mastered by Borislav Dimitrov-Boro. Ivashkin (producer) is responsible for all arrangements, mixing and recording. The pre-production and mastering were funded through a Music Author programme for production funding (I don’t recall the year, perhaps 2013), submitted by Neli Nedeva-Voeva and with the assistance of Vasil Gyurov.
