The Headstall is an alternative rock band that blends strong new wave, post-punk and punk influences. In the 2000s, they released three albums. They played dozens of gigs in Sofia (mainly at O! Shipka, but also at Tri Ushi and Scenata), took part in several festivals and filmed two official music videos (“User Tears” and “Iceberg”) and many unofficial ones – highly experimental, initially as an entirely acoustic line-up, with a style that is quite difficult to define. Influenced by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, but also by many others. Their overall sound is most reminiscent of the early Velvet Underground, with a touch of Nova Generatsiya, Nick Cave and the early Pink Floyd. The name The Headstall itself was chosen at random, primarily because of how it sounds, although the band later made various claims to the media regarding the meaning of their name (including that it was borrowed from a novel by the non-existent writer Ken Birds).
