PUMPAL formed in 2002 in Sofia as a studio band. Their music blends electronic sounds, ethnic instruments, guitars and drums, and stylistically they are closest to avant-garde new wave. In 2003, the band took part in the ‘Your Nokia Stage’ competition and were ranked in a prestigious sixth place. PUMPAL began performing live, with the help of guest musicians. In 2006, they were among the finalists in the annual BNR Spring Competition with the song “White Moon”. A 13-year hiatus followed, after which the core members of PUMPAL decided to reunite and record their music. They also filmed a music video for the song “Biala Luna”. Their debut album “Grateful” was released in the autumn of 2020 and features nine tracks.
