Kse: "I've been writing songs for as long as I can remember. I've also been playing the piano since I was five. But during the difficult period of late adolescence, I parted ways with the piano – sweet, dear, old and German – and since then I’ve only had sporadic and random encounters with random pianos, on which I recall the compositions I’ve written. On my 17th birthday, however, I was given an acoustic ‘Orpheus’. It’s christened ‘Mara the Common’. My first guitar pieces were born on it, before I’d even learnt to play the fretboard – songs like “Nothing”. Later, I added a bit more flair to my fingering and wrote some tracks that were more interesting from a guitarist’s perspective... Otherwise, I’m a pathological CREATOR – playing, drawing, writing and singing – I love doing the things that have come from me, because I love doing them... My greatest strength, however, is probably writing, as I receive the most “praise” for my lyrics. In September 2009, I played my first ‘official’ live gig with a full set list at the ‘Lebovski’ club in Plovdiv. Shortly afterwards, I got together with Acho (‘Pod Dazhda’) and Lyubo (‘AS" and "Cats Under Cars") and formed KseToFon, which was still searching for the right name in April 2010 when we played our first gig after a total of six rehearsals. The name spread online, thanks to the live videos posted on YouTube, and I even received an urgent invitation to my own gig from a lovely girl who later became a friend. Towards the end of 2011, the band underwent a bit of a reshuffle – Lyubo left, and in his place came Yaskat (Z3n) with a drum machine and programming. At first we renamed ourselves Pseudo Ksedo, but later we decided it didn’t sound right and became Ksetka Von Tape. With us, things are laid-back and totally NOT geared towards commercialism, constant, intrusive gigs and tacky propaganda. We play whatever we like, however we like, and we go on stage when we’re invited. Unlike many other people, I never invite friends to my gigs. Those who’ve heard of us have heard of us; those who’re interested have got the message. I keep to myself. And every time I find myself (with pleasure!) in front of an audience full of unfamiliar faces, and I’m delighted that they’ve found something of their own in our songs. Music is love; the most sincere thing you give of yourself is equivalent to sex, and I am light years away from the idea of turning into a musical whore and counting my pennies after the gig. In my opinion, it’s worth the effort to work hard so that you have the opportunity to create. Musicians make the scene.” More lyrics and stories – at https://kcekce.blog.bg
