KAKE? is a band based in and formed in Sofia, Bulgaria, by Andrew Anderson (UK), Martin Penev (Bulgaria) and Martian Tabakov (Bulgaria) – alternative, indie, rock, punk and more. KAKE? is the strangest band in the Balkans. The name KAKE? comes from the Bulgarian phrase ‘Как е?’, which carries the semantic meaning: “What’s up? How are you feeling? Are you alright?” Due to their very profound approach to music and life, the band remains misunderstood by the average person. To solve this problem, they wear kimonos to create a spectacle. KAKE? proudly declare that they do not have a single love ballad. Instead, they focus on mortality, spiritual poverty and shopping. Two out of three are well-known visual artists. The third is not.
