HELP ME JONES is a project by Konstantin Timoshenko – a DJ from Kazakhstan – and Mariy Rosen – an actor from Bulgaria. They are joined by Andronia Popova (Roni) from NASEKOMIX, who is their regular backing vocalist. Their songs are strongly influenced by 80s music. A collaboration of different styles – pop, new wave, disco. In recent years, HELP ME JONES have actively participated in various prestigious events such as EXIT Festival (Serbia), Mellow Music Festival (Bulgaria), ON! Fest (Bulgaria), AST Festival for Independent Theatre (Bulgaria), Sofia Film Fest (Bulgaria). The band’s calling card is the documentary film by director Maria Rangelova and cinematographer Vladimir Zenkevich, ‘Help Me Jones: One Concert in Sofia’. The film follows the band’s preparations, rehearsals and the staging of a concert in Sofia. In 2017, HELP ME JONES lost their backing vocalist. In 2018, they released three EPs dedicated to Roni. In 2020, they filmed a music video for one of their earliest songs, “The Darkness Shines”. Source: bg-rock-archives.com Mariy Rosen shares in an interview: "When I work with words, I notice that I am very minimalist, which is why I call my poems crumbs. Consequently, the very connection between the words opens or closes certain spaces. Along with the words and the weight they carry, there is also a kind of magical aura that I sometimes feel tangibly and physically. When words come together and form connections, other zones emerge in which what is missing sometimes becomes tangible. I suppose there are moments when these words come together in such a way that what is missing begins to be present, and this is a kind of solace that I need and want to share. Otherwise, I cannot understand why I should bother with poetry? I also notice the following: when these few words I piece together do not offer at least a few possible readings for me, then I take apart what I have put together, or I shift something around until the poem begins to say more than just one single thing. Perhaps this multiplicity offers more possibilities, something like a trap for truth. And when someone reads the poem, they have the chance to grasp it."
