Goran Tanevski is a Macedonian musician, composer and vocalist, best known as a member of the Macedonian band Mizar (in Macedonian: Мизар) from Skopje. Among fans, he is regarded as the original, unique voice and face of the legendary Macedonian band “Mizar”. The band was formed in 1983, and Goran Tanevski joined the band in 1985 as part of a line-up known as Mizar – Second Revelation (Mizar – The Second Revelation). During this phase, the band achieved cult status. Following a hiatus and Mizar’s Third Revelation in the summer of 2006, vocalist Goran Tanevski rejoined the band. In early November of the same year, Mizar played in Belgrade and announced their new album featuring Tanevski as vocalist. The album “A Glance at the Flower Garden” was completed and released in 2007. In 2010, Goran Tanevski left Mizar once again and was replaced by the Byzantine choir Harmozini. Since 2010, Goran Tanevski has been working on both solo and collaborative projects. His musical style is usually associated with post-punk, darkwave and gothic rock. In addition to influences such as Joy Division, for example, he also incorporates elements of traditional Macedonian folk and Byzantine music into his work. His vocals are based on Eastern Orthodox church chants. On 19 September 2012, Goran Tanevski promoted his new musical material, presenting a completely new artistic concept as a songwriter.
