ERA is a Bulgarian rock/funk-thrash band, formed in the late 1980s and active mainly between 1989 and 1991. The band established itself as part of the underground rock scene during the transition period, with a sound blending funk, thrash metal and hard rock. ERA’s participation in the compilation album ‘BG Rock II’, released in 1990, has been officially confirmed. That same year, the band won the grand prize at the “Golden Orpheus” festival with the song “The City”, which was their most significant accolade. The band members included Dimitar Kovachev – Funky (bass), Lyubomir Malkovski (guitar) and Amebata (vocals). After a brief but intense period of activity, ERA disbanded, and the musicians went on to participate in other important projects on the Bulgarian rock scene. This artist features on the dwr.radio playlist thanks to Emo Bratanov – a legendary radio presenter who made an exceptional contribution to the development of Bulgarian rock in general in the early 90s and for many years thereafter. Respect!
