In 1991, Babyface Clan were known as BabyFace, but they later changed their name to avoid being confused with the popular American R&B artist. Naso Ruskov, the band’s frontman, is perhaps the most charismatic and distinctive artist in Bulgaria – with his own unique style and personality in the public eye. He is completely devoted to his art – something that is lacking in most artists in Bulgaria. The same is evident in the band’s tracks. Babyface Clan’s first performances took place at the Universiada Hall in 1991 at events organised by the Art Rock Centre. This was followed by a performance at the eco-rock festival in Ruse. Over time, the band built up their own, very strong repertoire in English. They were actively involved in the club music scene in Bulgaria at the time. In 1998, they won the ‘Sound of Passport’ competition. Several tracks were also recorded for a new album. It did not come out as planned, but the band released it in digital format in early 2015. In the late 90s, Babyface Clan took part in the “Berkstok” festival. Following the release of their third album, "Romantica" (2000), the band’s vocalist and guitarist moved to England, where they formed Imbeciles & The Poison Umbrella. After many years of silence, in 2013 Babyface Clan recorded a new album, which was released in December. Currently (2024), the band is fully active and performing live.
