ALEGRO was founded in 1991 in Sofia. Initially, the band played alternative rock with jazz, folk and classical elements. In 1992, ALLEGRO won the special prize for alternative rock at the ‘Golden Rock Orpheus’ festival in Blagoevgrad. At the end of 1993, the band’s first album, ‘Baroque’, was released. The recordings were made at Dilema and Gencho Stoev Studios between March 1992 and July 1993. Released by DS Music, 1993. Allegro are: Yavor Kirin – guitars, vocals; Mario Baltadzhiev – keyboards/synth, backing vocals; Pavel Milenov – drums, programming, sound engineer; Konstantin Iliev – saxophone, clarinet. Also featuring: Dobroslava Ivanova – soprano /Vertigo/, Mariana Tonkova – flute /Now, 4/, Margarita Shtereva – violin /Now, 3/, Nikolay Kolarov – cello /Albatross/, Kiril Makedonski – saxophone /Vertigo/. 1997 was the most successful year for ALLEGRO. During that year, they won third prize at the Fourth National Festival of Rock and Pop Music ‘Silver Eros’ in Plovdiv. A month later, they took part in the International Pop and Rock Festival ‘Golden Orpheus’. ALEGRO performed at numerous clubs and festivals across the country – Rockfest “Tsarevo ’98”, Berkstock ’98, the Fourth Rock Film Fest ’98, and others. In the summer of 1998, ALLEGRO performed several concerts as part of the “Slavek Bazaar” in Odessa (Ukraine). Around the same time, the band’s second album, “Monogama”, was released.
